Marine Grade Aluminum — 5xxx Plate, Sheet & Coil for Shipbuilding
DNV-approved marine-grade 5xxx plate, sheet and coil — 5083, 5086, 5754, 5052 and 5454 — in H116 and H321 for hull and deck work. Special alloys are supplied on request, outside the hull list.

Three tiers — stock core, accessories, special alloys
What is held as core stock, what is an accessory, and what is project-based.
Stock core — hull & deck
5083, 5086, 5754 and 5454 held as the working range: hull plating in H116, deck and superstructure in H111/H112, and 5454 for warm service above 65 °C.
5xxx · DNV listedMarine accessories
Checker and tread plate, rolled rings, and 6xxx fittings and framing that complete a deck or a tank installation alongside the plate order.
AccessoriesSpecial alloys — on request
7050-T7451, 7075-T651 and 1xxx sheet supplied project by project. These are not on the classification-society hull list and are quoted for non-hull use.
On requestSpecial alloys — supplied on request
Grades outside the classification-society hull list. Quoted project by project for non-hull work, and never presented as hull material.
The highest-strength 7xxx we quote. Used for machined non-hull components — tooling, jigs and structural fittings where strength-to-weight governs. Not for welded structure.
Aerospace-derived 7xxx for machined parts, moulds and fixtures. Limited weldability and marine corrosion resistance — specify it for machining, not for exposure.
99.5% pure aluminum. Very formable with high electrical and thermal conductivity. Non-structural sheet work, cladding and trim.
99.0% pure — the general-purpose commercially pure grade. Ductile, readily welded and formed, with no structural role.
99.6% pure, for conductivity and trim work where the slightly higher strength of 1050 is not needed.
None of these grades appear on a classification-society hull list. They are quoted for non-hull applications only. For hull, deck and structure, specify from the 5xxx core range above.
Why buy marine plate through this range
What is actually different about sourcing 5xxx plate this way.
Al-Mg alloys are what the classification rules recognise for hull and structure. Every core grade on this page belongs to that family — the range does not pad itself out with general-purpose alloys.
DNV approval is available with the order — the approval most marine buyers require.
Plate and sheet are cut to your nesting with ±2 mm standard tolerance, and every batch carries an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate countersigned by our QC team.
Core stock, accessories and special alloys are separated rather than blended, so it is clear which grades are approved for hull work and which are project-based.

DNV status reflects the alloy's listing for marine use. A specific certificate for the delivered heat is arranged with the order — an EN 10204 3.1 MTC accompanies every batch.

3.1 MTCBuyer questions
Which marine grade should I specify?
5083-H116 for hull and splash zone, 5086 where forming is tight or slightly lower strength is acceptable, 5754 for superstructures and tanks, 5454 for warm service above 65 °C, 5052 and 5182 for sheet work and small craft.
Are 7050 and 7075 marine grades?
They are not on the classification-society hull list, and we do not present them as hull alloys. They are supplied on request for non-hull special parts where high strength is the governing requirement.
What certificate comes with the material?
An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate per batch, issued by the producing mill and countersigned by our QC team after independent re-inspection. Classification society certification is arranged with the order.
What thickness and width can you supply?
Plate 3–50 mm up to 2,650 mm wide (3,000 mm on request); sheet and coil 0.5–6 mm. Cut-to-length runs to 12,000 mm at ±2 mm, or ±0.2 mm on request.
Do you supply checker plate and fittings with the plate?
Yes. Checker and tread plate, rolled rings and 6xxx framing and fittings can be consolidated on the same order so one shipment covers the whole deck scope.
What is the minimum order?
Around one tonne for plate, depending on grade and thickness. Send the grade, temper, thickness and quantity and we quote against current mill availability.
